Dempsey & Holland Village

Dempsey Hill and Holland Village are where Singapore goes for a slow, green weekend brunch. Dempsey's converted colonial army barracks sit among mature rain trees, and its restaurants, wine bars and garden cafés fill up with families and long-lunch groups on Saturdays and Sundays. Holland Village, a short drive away, adds neighbourhood cafés and bistros with a friendly, expat-village feel. Brunches in this part of town are mostly à la carte or set-menu affairs in beautiful settings, with plenty of outdoor seating, pet-friendly terraces and space for children to roam. The area is car-friendly rather than MRT-friendly, although Holland Village and Botanic Gardens stations are within reach, and the Botanic Gardens themselves make an ideal post-brunch walk.
